The Contour Method

30 May 2012 - seminar

  • Published in Courses.

The Contour Method of residual stress measurement was invented by Dr Mike Prime of Los Alamos Laboratories and first presented in the UK at the 6th International Conference on Residual Stress in Oxford, 2000.

The Materials Engineering Group at The Open University is the leading practitioner of the Contour Method in Europe. In 2009, Professor John Bouchard launched an Advanced Contour Method Research programme supported by Rolls-Royce and the East Midlands Development Agency (emda). Research in Materials Engineering is supported by The Lloyd's Register Educational Trust, an independent charity working to achieve advances in transportation, science, engineering and technology education, training and research worldwide for the benefit of all.

The aims of this seminar are to inform industry of best practice in the method, disseminate results from recent research and provide a forum for discussion.

Location: The Open University, Walton Hall, Milton Keynes, MK7 6AA
